Learning Swedish

Hej alla! God Morgon :) Happy Onsdag! HUMP DAY!! I don't think people say "hump day" in Swedish... do they? Do they even say it in English? hmmm... Well this morning I had a private Swedish language with the other utbytesstudenter(Exchange Students) with a teacher that teaches Swedish as a second language. We went over some numbers, and learned about plurals and long and short vowels. It's crazy how some words in Swedish are very similar to English, and some are not even close. For exempel: Hat is Hatt in Swedish, and book is bok, but kanelbulle sounds like a cannibal, but its a cinnamon bun. Or vatten, which is water. I find that sometimes I only need to understand 1 or 2 words in a sentence to understand what they're saying. Like if someone said to me "Hur gammal ar du?" I would know they were asking how old I am because of the word "gammal", which means old. Or if someone said "Var kommer du ifran" I would know what they were asking. If you don't speak Swedish, you might not know what that means. DON'T google translate it! Say it out loud. You think I'm joking? I don't care if your on a boring date or in line at the bank, say it! Right now! Okay, good. Now say it again but pronounce it correctly this time. Perfect. What does that sound like to you? C'mon keep saying it again and again until you figure it out. You can do it. If you still don't know, you're just going to have to ask a Swedish person or keep saying it until you find a Swedish person, because I'm not telling you. Then, when you do figure it out, answer the question in the comments(Don't worry you can answer in English). A few days ago I said that my blog has been read in the USA, Sweden, Finland, and the UK. Well I'm REALLY happy to say I can add more countries to that list. I'm going GLOBAL!! Now, my blog has also been seen in Belgium, Poland, and Japan!!! YAY!! A few days ago, I had more views in the USA than any other country, but now Sweden is on top! Hello Swedes! Hur mar du? A few weeks before I left for Sweden, I became obsessed with reading blogs and watching vlogs from utbytesstudenter from other countries that went to the USA. It was very interesting to really hear what other people think about Americans, besides the stereotype that all Americans are fat and lazy and they go around shooting people and eating at McDonalds. So, whatever your country is, try and look for utbytesstudenter who have been there, and see what they think. For exempel, I found a student that was fascinated that Americans always sit on the floor and drink from water fountains. Another thing I was thinking about was drinking songs. Theres a Swedish drinking song that everybody knows, but I don't know what its called. Does the USA have a drinking song? If it does would it be "SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS EVERYBODY!" or something more mellow like "Red solo cup, I fill you up, lets have a party! Lets have a party!" What do you think should be the American drinking song? The Swedish election is coming up soon and everyone has been talking about it. All I can think about is the fact that the next presidential election in the USA will be in 2016, and I'll finally be able to vote. I think Michelle Obama would make a good president. I think the next president should be a woman. We've had too many white male presidents. First we need a woman, then we need a black woman. Or we could just go strait to a black woman and elect Michelle. She's awesome. Rumors are going around that Hillary is going to run for president. She's awesome too. If either Michelle or Hillary were the first woman president, it would mean that it was the first time that 2 presidents have had sex with each other. Have you guys ever seen Youtube videos of President Obama singing? They're really funny. I think its weird that I always say to go "google it". I'm not gonna say that any more. Should I say "bing it" or "Yahoo it"? I'll say both :) I think this blog has been less about Sweden and more about just random stuff... hmmm maybe I should say some stuff about Sweden... Well... I watched 4 episodes of Welcome to Sweden yesterday. If you don't know what the show Welcome To Sweden is, Bing it. Or you can watch the whole first season on this website called movhunter.net, but I don't know if movhunter is anywhere else besides Sweden. ummm what should I say now? If you guys have any questions just ask :) Il talk to you guys later :) bye bye :)
